As I said, today’s page is a first for TOTD…our first splash page!
In general, I try to avoid padding my scripts. I think the splash is a bit over used in modern comics. But this was one spot I felt was necessary to get one in.
Clearly, this is all Koko Amboro going to town on this. He did ALL the heavy lifting. Here was my script for this page:
PAGE 56 – SPLASH PAGE
SPLASH – Alright, let’s have some fun now. On the previous two pages, we set up the two armies charging at each other, now let’s pull back and show what happens when they meet. We now have a side profile shot as the two armies clash into each other, fighting in epic style. With this shot, we should see Lucitus on horseback fighting well in the center of the action. References for type of shot can be found here and here. Let’s get the big MONSTROSITY in this shot, and show it knocking over several of the Baron’s soldiers with it’s big club. Note, the Monstrosities are controlled by the Hornak Wizard or his Apprentice, so if you draw one of those, the wizards should be nearby. This is just a big action splash page, so have some fun with it.

The most important thing was that we get the scale of the conflict here, and I think this page does that. If felt a little too silent without any copy, so I added the thunder SFX at the last minute to give it some added drama. Miguel’s colors complimented the page wonderfully.
