No excuses.  Just life and other things popping up.  Koko got an incredible project he couldn’t pass up, and I’ve been busy working on other projects.  (See below.)

But rest assured, more TOTD is in the works.  I’m way ahead on scripts and Koko is returning to pages now.  I hope to announce the return of regularly scheduled updates soon, but want to make sure you get a nice chunk of uninterrupted story before I do.

In the meantime, here’s a preview of SCAM #1, a book I edited and am publishing, by the super talented Joe Mulvey.  COMPLETELY different than Tears of the Dragon, but just as fun.

I’m really pleased with Koko’s storytelling on these pages.  He draws great little scamps, and WICK is quite the scamp, as you’ll come to see.

Sorry about the short hiatus, but New York Comic Con required I put some TOTD time into prepping for the show.  All in, NYCC was a very successful show for myself and ComixTribe.  We debuted six new books at the con, and put Tears of the Dragon Vol.1 into the hands of a bunch of new readers.

And how about today’s page?  Some solid storytelling by Koko and Miguel, as we say goodbye to the noble Baron Thorngill.  Those are big shoes to fill.  Will Lucitus be up to the task?

I simply love this page.

Working horizontally provides some interesting challenges for the artist.  That said, I feel Koko has come a long way with getting the hang of how panels need to be arranged to best use the format, and I think I’ve gotten a bit more comfortable writing for it.  Still, I’m often surprised and delighted when pages come in, as Koko will find innovative ways to use the panel real estate to maximum effect.  This was one of those pages.

Koko did another great job fitting in the story beats hear that focus on a few individuals, while at the same time keeping it clear that we’re in the midst of an epic battle.  And Miguel’s color scheme gives a dark and ominous feel to the entire proceedings.
